FactLens is a Chrome extension and connected fact-checking service. These terms govern the extension, Console, website, support, referrals, paid subscriptions, and direct FactLens API access.
You must be at least 13 years old and legally able to accept these terms. If local law requires a higher age for an online service, that higher age applies unless a parent or guardian gives legally valid authorization.
You are responsible for the accuracy of your account information and activity under your account. A signed-in Trial provides time-limited access to eligible extension features and includes required session/history synchronization while active. Trial users cannot access Console. New FactLens Pro purchases are recurring monthly or annual subscriptions as shown at checkout. Existing lifetime members retain their lifetime entitlement subject to these Terms.
A new paid Pro account begins with complete-session synchronization enabled. Pro users may stop future session-content uploads without disabling safe profile, appearance, credential-name, routing, prompt, verdict, source-preference, or device synchronization.
You provide and control third-party API keys used by the extension. You are responsible for third-party provider charges, quotas, account security, and compliance with each provider's terms. FactLens stores synchronized credential names and non-secret configuration, not the third-party API-key value. Requests sent directly to your provider may still create usage or charges on that provider account.
Direct FactLens API access is a separate paid service. API keys issued by FactLens are credentials for your authorized integration and must be kept secret. You are responsible for activity performed with your FactLens API key until it is revoked or replaced. You may use FactLens API results in your own product or workflow, but you may not sell, publish, share, sublicense, or redistribute the API key itself or offer raw FactLens API access to third parties.
Pro configuration may customize stage prompts, use a user-only prompt, create or edit mode-specific verdict cards and rules, prioritize or block sources, and route requests among named local credentials. These choices can materially change results, cost, latency, and reliability. You are responsible for reviewing custom instructions and the sources returned before relying on an output.
Audio/video and image/post checks use separate pipelines and may require different compatible providers. FactLens may reject malformed, unsafe, incompatible, or over-limit configuration to protect the service and expected response format.
FactLens Pro may generate an evidence-scoped speaker summary and ratings from synchronized claims at your request. A report request is delivered privately to the signed-in extension and requires confirmation there before the locally connected AI provider is used. The report is limited to the available saved evidence and is not a definitive assessment of a person's character, intent, protected traits, or future conduct. Ratings, rationales, uncertainty, source links, and HTML exports are informational outputs and may be incomplete or wrong.
The extension is licensed for its intended end-user use, and the FactLens API may be integrated into products and workflows consistent with the API documentation and your purchased access. You agree not to:
Fact checks are generated by software and may be incomplete, outdated, or wrong. FactLens is not a substitute for professional legal, medical, financial, or safety advice. Verdicts represent the output of automated analysis against available sources at the time of the check.
No mode is guaranteed to be correct. Verify important decisions with primary sources and qualified professionals before acting on them.
You retain your rights in content you provide. You grant FactLens the limited permission required to process it, including synchronization under the applicable Trial or Pro policy and processing required to fulfill FactLens API requests. Local history can be cleared in the extension. Console history clearing removes sessions, activity events, speaker claims, and reports while retaining settings and other configuration needed across devices. A separate verified account-deletion request removes the account and associated resources, subject to records that may be retained for entitlements, API usage, billing, security, fraud prevention, disputes, or law. The Privacy Policy explains these practices.
You retain ownership of images, screenshots, recordings, posts, prompts, API inputs, and other content you submit or deliberately select for checking. You grant FactLens a limited, non-exclusive permission to transmit, transform, analyze, temporarily process, and, when the applicable synchronization or API operation requires it, store derived results solely to operate, secure, support, and improve the requested service. You represent that you have the rights, permission, or other lawful basis needed to submit that material.
FactLens does not claim ownership of user-selected or third-party evidence images. FactLens branding, software, interface artwork, original editorial graphics, and site images are owned by or licensed to FactLens. Third-party trademarks, linked publications, embedded media, and evidence remain subject to their respective owners' rights and terms.
You are responsible for any custom AI or transcription endpoint, or custom search endpoint, that you configure, including availability, hosting costs, access control, logs, retention, output format, and compliance with its terms. FactLens does not control a custom endpoint or guarantee compatibility.
Referral links and codes are account-specific. A referral qualifies only when a genuinely new eligible user follows the tracked flow, installs FactLens, signs in, and completes the required first use. Eligible Trial accounts may claim seven additional days of Pro access for each three qualified referrals. Paid users may receive access to selected beta opportunities. Rewards have no cash value, are non-transferable, and may be withheld or reversed for abuse, duplicate/self-referrals, automation, fraud, or ineligible activity.
FactLens may add, change, suspend, or remove features, providers, limits, Trials, beta access, API capabilities, or integrations to maintain security, legality, reliability, or product quality. Third-party outages and website changes may make a feature temporarily unavailable. Reasonable efforts will be made to communicate material product changes through the product or What's new.
Public Blog pages may contain clearly identified advertising supplied by Google AdSense or another approved provider. An advertisement is not a FactLens endorsement of the advertiser, product, or claim. Advertising and linked services are governed by the provider's and advertiser's own terms and privacy practices. You must not use automated, misleading, incentivized, or otherwise invalid interactions with advertisements. Cookie and advertising choices are described in the Privacy Policy.
FactLens software, branding, interface, documentation, API implementation, and packaged verification logic are owned by FactLens or its licensors and are protected by applicable law. These terms give you a limited, revocable, non-transferable right to use FactLens for its intended purpose; they do not transfer ownership.
New FactLens Pro purchases are recurring monthly or annual subscriptions shown at checkout. Paddle acts as the payment processor and merchant of record. Unless canceled, a subscription renews automatically at the interval and price shown at checkout. You may stop future renewal through the available billing controls or support; access ordinarily continues through the paid period. Existing lifetime entitlements remain lifetime unless refunded, reversed, revoked for fraud or abuse, or otherwise required by law. Pro refund eligibility is governed by the Refund Policy.
Direct FactLens API access is billed separately from FactLens Pro using the price, budget, credit amount, or usage terms shown when access is issued or purchased. Free or promotional API credits have no cash value.
Under FactLens's commercial refund policy, an API refund is available only if there has been no recorded billable API usage during the seven consecutive calendar days immediately preceding the refund request. If any billable API usage is recorded in that seven-day lookback window, no commercial API refund is available and there is no discretionary or support override. The Refund Policy explains how usage is verified and how to request a refund.
Nothing in this section limits statutory or mandatory consumer rights that cannot legally be waived or excluded.
You may stop using FactLens at any time and may remove the extension. Access, subscriptions, or API keys may be limited, revoked, or terminated for breach, fraud, abuse, legal requirements, payment reversal, security risk, quota evasion, or harm to FactLens, providers, or other users. Refund eligibility is governed by the Refund Policy.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, FactLens is provided “as is” and “as available.” FactLens disclaims implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, continuous availability, and accuracy. Nothing in these terms excludes a warranty or consumer right that cannot legally be excluded.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, FactLens is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or reliance damages; lost profits, data, goodwill, or opportunities; third-party provider charges; or decisions based on a FactLens output. Where liability cannot be excluded, aggregate liability will not exceed the amount you paid directly for FactLens during the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim. Mandatory consumer rights remain unaffected.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA. Users retain any additional mandatory rights that apply under the law of their place of residence and cannot legally be waived, including applicable data-protection and consumer rights.
